Perhaps it's because the new school is fast approaching and kids will be heading back to class after being home with mom all day or maybe hotel marketing people simple know that the words "slave labor" and "mother" are easily interchanged. Regardless of the reason, lodgings around the country are running some outstanding deals on travel packages that cater to women who need a break from their chaotic lives.

Take a look:

PALM SPRINGS

The snazzy Parker Palm Springs is offering a great deal on a "Rest and Rejuvenate" package. It includes two nights in a king room, breakfast daily, two 30-minute spa treatments (reflexology, Swedish massage, manicure/pedicure), lunch in your robe at the spa, a round of cocktails, dinner at an on-site restaurant, and s'mores around the outdoor fire pit. In addition, a selection of chick flicks, popcorn, and snacks will be delivered for an in-room pajama party in you want to take advantage of the getaway with your favorite gal pals. The package price is $595 per person and the offer is good through December 22, 2008.

The "Sofitel and the City" package offered by the upscale Sofitel Chicago Water Tower features one night in a suite, a welcome bag from Bloomingdale's (with certificates good for 15% off anything in the store, coupons for cosmetics, a free makeup lesson at the Laura Mercier counter, and free cappuccinos at the café), either a manicure and pedicure or a facial at Equinox, a round of cocktails and dinner at the hotel's restaurant, breakfast either in bed or at the hotel's cafe, and a 3 p.m. check out for just $455 per room per night. The offer is good through December 31, 2008.
