Northeast Fall Foliage Adventures

If you are looking for a unique way to view fall’s vibrant color show, but you can’t stomach zip lining over a forest or flying high in a hot air balloon, then consider a more relaxing alternative—-sailing. Seasonal sailings are red-hot this time of year, especially along the East Coast. The Connecticut River is home to a slew of cruise companies offering fall foliage voyages on New England’s longest river. The popular waterway flows from the northern tip of New Hampshire to the Long Island Sound; forms the border between New Hampshire and Vermont and passes through the center of … Continue reading

Unique Leaf Peeping Travel Adventures

My ultimate fall foliage travel adventure involves me, a hot air balloon and miles of pristine forests ablaze in orange and red hues. Someday. My dream of witnessing Mother Nature’s autumnal transformation from the sky is one way to spice up an ordinary leaf peeping trip. However, it is not the only adventure that puts a new spin on traditional fall foliage viewing. Cruise: Seasonal sailings to New England and Canada when the fall foliage is at its peak make for ideal family getaways during September and October. End-of-the-Season Fall Foliage Adventures

Despite the 57 mph winds that tore through our town earlier this week we still have a few trees that have yet to shed their colorful leaves. As hardy as the Cheetos and Doritos-dusted leaves may be, they too will join their wrinkled friends on the grass in the coming days. Autumn may be drawing to a close, but it is not over just yet. This means that you still have a chance to catch the remaining gold, crimson and burnt orange beauty on trees across America. To entice last-minute leaf peppers, some companies are offering unique travel adventures that … Continue reading

Unique Fall Foliage Travel Adventures

Tis the season for Cheetos trees. That’s what my daughter calls the blaze orange foliage that lights up the landscape near our home. The trees around here really do look like they’ve been sprinkled with the dust and crumbs you’d find at the bottom of a bag of cheese doodles. It’s like the Jolly Green Giant downed an entire bowl of cheese puffs, and then wiped his hands on the trees’ leaves. Makes me hungry just looking at them. But sitting in my home looking is so boring. It’s time to turn over a new leaf this fall by taking … Continue reading

Fabulous Fall Color Excursions

My bucket list contains a ton of high-flying adventures (and even more non-stop food binges), including taking a hot air balloon ride to view nature’s magnificent color show in Asheville, North Carolina. The area is a Mecca for leaf peepers, but instead of viewing the awe-inspiring burnt oranges, golden yellows and fire-engine red leaves from the ground, I would love to get a bird’s-eye-view of the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains from 500 to 2,000 feet in the sky. Of course, hot air balloon rides are not the only unique ways you can view fall’s spectacular colors. … Continue reading
