Are you sick of having to squeeze all of your kids onto a single air mattress because your in-laws insist that your family stay at their home during the holidays? If you are fed up with feeding (and cleaning up after and entertaining) an army of relatives each Thanksgiving, then you might be interested in the following travel deals. Each offers a wonderful opportunity for a long, relaxing weekend getaway over the Thanksgiving holiday: CALIFORNIA The Resort at Squaw Valley, located in Lake Tahoe, California, is kicking off its annual Magical Memories program during the long Thanksgiving weekend this year. The event features a tree-lighting ceremony and the debut of the resort's massive gingerbread village. It also includes a classic Thanksgiving buffet, complete with turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. The day after Thanksgiving, families can take part in holiday-themed activities such as ice-skating, skiing, sleigh rides, caroling and visits with Santa. In addition, the resort is home to the Mountain Buddies kids' club, which offers board games, arts and crafts, and outdoor fun. The Magical Bed and Breakfast package starts at $179 per night and includes accommodations for a family of four, breakfast and most activities. NORTH CAROLINA If your family enjoys spending time together outdoors, then consider ditching the traditional turkey dinner and opt to spend Thanksgiving at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The popular golf resort is offering a bevy of kid-friendly activities during the week of Thanksgiving. Noteworthy events include flag football games, movie nights, wagon rides, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, and family golf clinics. The Thanksgiving package starts at $155 per person and includes hotel accommodations, a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, breakfast and admission to a special Holiday Pops Concert by the North Carolina Symphony. Note: Kids 12 and under stay, eat and golf for free with an adult.
