Travel Tidbits: What Not to Pack Inside a Suitcase and What to Order at a Hotel

Note to travelers: Don't try this one on your next trip.

With the skyrocketing cost of airfare, plus a slew of new (and outrageous) service fees I'm surprised someone hadn't tried this months ago.

Sure, it really is a dumb idea, but I bet it will make you chuckle.

Swedish airport officials were less than amused when they found a dwarf trying to stowaway on an airplane inside of a suitcase. The prank was short-lived as the entire scene was staged by a TV comedy show. Still, that didn't stop employees at Bromma airport from calling police when the dwarf hopped out of the suitcase at the check-in counter.

When police arrived they learned that the stunt was being filmed by a hidden camera for a program on private TV network Kanal 5.

According to reports, airport staff admitted to being "shocked and humiliated" by the stunt that took place earlier this week.

A spokesman for the show told Swedish news reporters that the show was meant to be "provocative and entertaining."

He said the stunt was not meant to make fun of little people, but to make entertainment out of "extreme situations."

I'm pretty sure airport workers didn't see the entertainment value in the dwarf stunt, though you never know, they could have had a good laugh on the drive home.

WHAT TO ORDER AT A HOTEL

I don't drink alcohol, but I love fruity concoctions made in the spirit of expensive tropical libations. If you are like me then you might consider checking into a Holiday Inn the next time you are on the road. The lodging just launched an exotic new non-alcoholic mixed drink menu it says is an industry first.

According to Holiday Inn execs, the history making (in the hotel industry anyway) "mocktails" will be available at more than 400 hotels across North America. Drinks average in the $4 range and come in tasty combinations such as mixed berry pomegranate or raspberry iced tea and pineapple. And here's one I would shell out five bucks for: Orange juice and vanilla ice cream with a twist of cantaloupe. There's also Sprite and mango lemonade with a dash of chili powder.
