What do actor Kevin Bacon, MTV personality Coltrane Curtis and musician Itzhak Perlman all have in common?

They want you to visit their favorite Big Apple haunts. And thanks to a new ad campaign you'll discover where these famous faces hang out in the city during their downtime.

Metropolitan Opera general manager Peter Gelb, MTV fashion VJ Coltrane Curtis and Perlman are among the famous New Yorkers who have joined the newly expanded citywide welcome campaign for foreign travelers. The idea behind the new project, according to tourism officials, is to provide insider tips from celebrities and local experts about the booming metropolis.

For example, in one ad dailycandy.com founder Dany Levy offers this tidbit to visitors: "New York is always in bloom - you can score great deals in Chelsea's flower district."

Meanwhile, movie star Bacon insists of Rockwood Music Hall on the Lower East Side, "It's a great spot."

Gelb, Curtis, and Perlman, join the likes of other famous New Yorkers such as Robert De Niro and Billy Joel offering tourists advice on everything from late-night eats to bargain shopping.

TOURING NORTH DAKOTA ON TWO WHEELS

If you have ever dreamed of touring North Dakota on two wheels now's your chance.

Registration has just opened for the Red River International Bike Tour, which gets underway June 16th. The popular bike fest takes riders around the northern part of the Red River Valley in five days, including a loop into Canada for half a day.

According to tour officials, in its first year the ride drew nearly 150 participants from around the country and Canada, and this year organizers are expecting that number triple.

Participants can look for changes to the route this year--it is 26 miles shorter than last year's 316 miles. Also this year, registration ends on June 14th.

If you can't make it to the Red River International Bike Tour you might consider signing up for Western North Dakota's annual bike tour - Cycling Around North Dakota In Sakakawea Country, or CANDISC. It starts and ends at Fort Stevenson State Park and takes a different route each year.
