Spring Break Travel Prep

Now that we’re under a Winter Storm Warning, I’m seriously rethinking our decision not to fly to Hawaii for Easter break. The reality of having to dig out from under 10 inches of snow in late April does that to a person. Still, after hearing about slumbering air traffic controllers, sky-high airfares and TSA employee-run robbery rings, I suppose we’re better off staying home this spring break. If you are planning to jet off to grandma’s house, the beach or Disney this week you might be wondering how you can spare yourself from experiencing a travel nightmare. Here are some … Continue reading

Think Pink This Christmas

There’s nothing like shopping for Halloween candy in Target while being stared down by Rudolph, Frosty and Santa in all their inflatable glory. Long live commercialism. Given that Christmas displays have been up in various stores since the beginning of the month, I didn’t see it inappropriate to blog about holiday gift ideas in the days before Halloween. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right? Conformity seems to spreading this year. Believe it or not, we’re thinking pink around here this Christmas. Thanks to a delightfully charming treasure chest of Pinkalicious goodies, my true-blue, anti-frou frou daughter is looking … Continue reading

Something for Parents of LEGO Lovers to Think About

Are your children into Lego? Are you constantly nagging them to pick up the tiny brick-like blocks from the floor before a younger sibling decides to make the colorful toys an afternoon snack? Now, let me ask you this: Are those Lego lovers of yours boys or girls? If they are girls, then what sets do they play with? Are your daughters crafting houses and castles from the popular Danish designed toys or are they more content building robots and fire engines? If it’s the latter, then you might want to contact Sweden’s Trade Ethical Council against Sexism in Advertising … Continue reading

Sunday Travel Funnies: It’s All How You Look at It

What would you think if you were driving down a suburban street and found yourself at the end of a radar gun… being held by an 11-year-old? Would you slow down? Drivers in Louisville, Kentucky have. In fact, so many motorists have laid off the gas pedal when they see young Landon Wilburn that he has made front page news across the country. Since police can’t be everywhere, the enterprising boy took matters into his own hands. According to Wilburn, speeding motorists were out of control in his Louisville subdivision and when he shouts to drivers to slow down didn’t … Continue reading

Thoughts on Pink Poodles

I was on my way home from work at the cats only boarding facility the other day when I saw a young-ish (maybe in his early twenties) guy walking two dogs. One was a big goofy lab-type dog; the other was a shaggy little white dog that probably had poodle in her ancestry. What caught my eye was that the little white dog had bright pink spots on the top of her head and the tip of her tail. It took me a while to decide that I thought it was cute and relatively harmless. Why the dilemma? Well, I’m … Continue reading

I am pleased to be able to bring a touch of pink to the Photography blog. For past couple of weeks I have been writing about products designed to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.
