If you are a fan of pizza pies then you might consider hopping on the next flight to Naples, Italy. It’s no secret that the city makes some of the finest pizzas in the world, but this weekend chefs there are offering a one-of-kind pie to honor a special visitor. Naples’ world-class pizza makers have invented a pontiff’s pizza in recognition of Pope Benedict XVI one-day visit to the city to celebrate Mass and attend a meeting. Where to Eat in Paris

There are more remarkable restaurants in the City of Lights than I could ever cover in this single blog; however, a new eatery opening in one of Paris’ most popular landmarks is a subject I can’t ignore. The new restaurant takes cuisine to new heights—-410 feet up to be exact–and is being run by one of the world’s most recognized celebrity chefs. Alain Ducasse’s new Jules Verne restaurant located at the top of Paris’ Eiffel Tower is the talk of the town. Ducasse is known for whipping up meals for passengers on the Concorde jet and astronauts at the international … Continue reading

Endangered Piping Plovers in New Jersey

The endangered piping plover has been something of a conservation success story on the New Jersey beaches. The piping plover is a small, territorial shorebird. Like many human beach visitors, the piping plovers pick out their territory, settle into the sand, play in the water, and watch life go on around them. These birds return to their breeding grounds in late March and early April. After courtship rituals, the mated birds form shallow nests in the sand and line them with shells and small rocks. Plovers lay as many as four eggs at a time; the hatchlings can fly a … Continue reading

SEEING RED IN ROME The waters of Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain were running red this weekend and it wasn’t because the Italians were celebrating Christmas early. Rather, according to Italian newspapers, a man threw a bucket of red paint or dye into the 18th-century monument and colored its water bright red. Police say the crime was committed in front of a crowd of astonished tourists and residents, and the suspect remains at large. Fountain technicians were forced to shut off the water before restoring a clear flow. According to news reports, the legendary baroque fountain was not permanently damaged and … Continue reading
