Never mind frying an egg on the streets of Seattle, last week you could have roasted an entire pig without the help of a pit. The area has been experiencing record high temperatures this season. In fact, last Wednesday the National Weather Service reported that Sea-Tac Airport reached 103 degrees, making it the hottest day in the history of local weather records.

The previous all-time record high was 100 degrees set on July 20, 1994, at Sea-Tac Airport and on July 16, 1941, when records were kept downtown at the Federal Building. Keep in mind that the average high temperature this time of year in the Seattle area is 76 degrees.

The upside to the oppressive heat is that it has sparked a slew of travel deals in the area, including these sizzling hot hotel deals:

Mount Rainier

Crystal Mountain Hotels, near Mount Rainier, is offering a super Summer Escape package, which includes accommodations and breakfast, lunch, and dinner vouchers (a $62 value). Crystal Mountain consists of two mountainside lodges, which serves as the base for kid-friendly summertime activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Rates start at $120 per room per night, or $240 for the required two-night stay. The offer is good through September 1, 2009.

Seattle

Seattle's historic Mayflower Park Hotel is offering a sensational Summer Savings Rate, which includes accommodations and complimentary valet parking (a $30 value). You'll also receive 50 percent off a Sunday-night stay when staying two or more nights. The popular property is centrally located near top tourist spots, such as Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and Seattle's waterfront area. Rates start at $175 per room per night, a savings of about 15 percent. The offer is good through September 30, 2009.

Olympic National Park

Kalaloch Lodge in Olympic National Park is running a hot deal for "Twilight" fans. For $149 per cabin per night you will receive accommodations plus an area map highlighting locations from the "Twilight" book series, water bottles, a "Twilight" trivia game, and a special dessert. The lodge overlooks the Pacific Ocean and provides spectacular summer views.
