Summer Travel: Mermaids for Kids and Summer Camp for Parentsby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 26 Jul 2008 08:05 PM Under the sea Under the sea Darling it's better Down where it's wetter Take it from me My 4-year-old daughter can belt out the words to Disney's "The Little Mermaid" songs with the best of them. Which is why I would love nothing more than to take her to see the real Ariel in person. If you have a "Little Mermaid" lover in your family you might consider making the trip to Florida, or now, South Carolina. The mermaid swimmers who perform at Weeki Wachee Springs in Florida are coming to Myrtle Beach. According to reps for the swimmers, this summer will mark the first time in more than 60 years that the mermaids have performed away from their home. The Weeki Wachee Theater opened in 1947 on Florida's west coast and during the 1950s was one of the most popular tourist stops in the nation. But, now, good news for those of you who can only make it as far as South Carolina this summer. The mermaids will be performing August 1-3 at Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. The swimmers will reportedly perform their underwater choreography in Ray Bay - an 85,000-gallon saltwater tank. SUMMER CAMP FOR ADULTS W Hotels is helping parents who are having a tough time adjusting to life while their kids are away at summer camp.
