Carnival cruisers have a new reason to cheer today. The cruise line's biggest vessel to date is getting ready to set sail to more ports. The massive ship weighs more than 113,000 tons and can accommodate 3,0006 passengers. The folks at Carnival say the new floating behemoth is stocked with luxuries never before seen on the high seas.

For starters, the Splendor is home to a 21,000-square foot spa that stretches across two decks in the front of the ship and offers an Asian-inspired atmosphere. Passengers can relax in the huge thermal suite based on a Turkish bath experience or enjoy extensive treatments in the new mud lounge where different chakra muds are applied to the body then washed away in a tropical rain temple. Before and after treatments, guests are encouraged to enjoy sea views with a cup of tea in a relaxation area with comfy loungers and canopied beds.

For families with young children the Splendor offers an expansive 5,500-square-foot children's play area. The two-level facility is divided into separate areas: Camp Carnival (ages 2-11) and Circle C (ages 12-14), with each focusing on a different activity or function. Directly above the play area is a children's water park, which features various waterslides and other wet and wild activities. In addition to the waterpark, Splendor boasts four swimming pools, including a pool on Panorama Deck featuring the line's signature 214-foot-long "Twister Waterslide." On Promenade Deck there's a teen area called Club O2 (ages 15-17) that includes a dance floor, soda bar, game area and more.

As on other Carnival ships, the Splendor comes equipped with a towering atrium and theater, Internet café, library, shopping promenade, and dozens of bars and lounges. The ship is also home to 1,503 staterooms, including 52 suites. To entice more families to set sail nearly 200 of the staterooms are interconnecting so they can accommodate up to three and four guests.

The Splendor will sail in Northern Europe this summer before heading to Florida where it will sail during the winter months.
