SPA-tastic News For Midwest Travelers

I've taken a hit for taking jabs at my new northern home here in Wisconsin (what can I say, I grew up in Hawaii). I've attempted to make amends by detailing the incredible attractions the state has to offer in many of my previous blogs and today I have yet another to add to the list. Get ready ladies... this one's especially for you!

Let's face it; Wisconsin isn't known around the world (or even the Midwest) for having world-class spas. After all, when someone talks about what made Milwaukee famous the answer is not hot springs and deep-tissue massages.

But, that may soon change.

Milwaukee's historic Pfister Hotel just opened the doors to its new WELL Spa, which offers a bevy of luxurious treatments that range from a $120 50-minute full-body massage to a $485 five-hour "Queen for a Day" treatment package.

The package that caught my eye is the one that reminds you that you are in the land of milk and cheese. The "Dairy State of Mind" package includes a bath of organic milk and yogurt. There's even a "Brew 'Do" -- a hair treatment using amber ale.

In other hotel news...

If you are planning a trip to Las Vegas in the near future don't be surprised by the camera crews converging around the Palms Casino Resort. The hotel, which gained notoriety when it hosted MTV's "The Real World" in 2002, is at it again.

According to MTV's website, the star-magnet resort is housing the cast and crew for "Reunited: The Real World," a new show that is bringing back the wild young people who made the reality series famous. Filming is set to begin this month in the Palm's "Real World Suite."

F.Y.I. when filming wraps you can spend the night at the suite yourself--for a price. A night in the "Real World Suite" will set you back about $10,000, but here's what you get for 10 grand: three bedrooms, an oversized whirlpool tub and a communal unisex bathroom with six sinks. Not to mention, a "confessional room" and a fish tank. The suite offers 3,000-square-feet of space, so you could host an entire family reunion in it.
