If you live anywhere in the northern portion of the United States then you are likely waiting for Old Man Winter to take a hike. However, given the number of ski deals still available for the months of March and April there are at least a few families who can't get enough of (or are planning to experience for the first time) the thrills associated with shooshing down the slopes.

Take a look:

VERMONT

The "Popcorn and Powder" package is ideal for families with young children or those who don't have much experience on skis. For $305 per room per night you'll get two nights in an upscale room that sleeps four at the Woodstock Inn & Resort, breakfast at the Eagle Café, and two-day lift tickets and trail fees for the whole family to Suicide Six, and the Woodstock Ski Touring Center. The price also includes a special book of coupons for area attractions and shopping, as well as free hot chocolate in the Suicide Six lodge. In addition, your clan will also receive a complimentary family-friendly movie with popcorn and pizza every Saturday at 7 p.m. at the inn. And as if that were not enough you will also have access to the resort's 41,000-square-foot Racket & Fitness Club facilities, featuring an indoor pool, a sauna, and tennis, squash and racquetball courts. The offer expires at the end of March.

ALASKA

For just $279 per room per night you can take advantage of Alyeska Resort's Ski & Stay package, which features one night in a deluxe room at the resort, breakfast for two at the Pond Cafe, and two adult all-day lift tickets for hitting the slopes. You will also have access to the hotel's pool and fitness center. If you've never been Alyeska Resort is set in the Alaskan wilderness, about 40 miles from Anchorage and 90 miles from Seward. The resort has 1,000 skiable acres and offers a variety of learn-to-ski and learn-to-snowboard programs. The package deal is good through April 27, 2008.

Finally, if you are traveling with children you'll be happy to hear that Hertz just announced plans to nearly double the size of its "Nick on the Go" program. The service provides renters with portable media players pre-loaded with more than 40 hours of Nickelodeon programming. It's available for $16.95 per day and is currently available in 43 major cities nationwide.
