Get your calendars and Sharpies out because this summer, SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals are teaming up with Royal Caribbean to host the inaugural Nickelodeon Family Cruise. The ship departs Miami on August 10th and sets sail for the Western Caribbean and seven days of "sun, surf and slime." The 4,000-plus-passenger Freedom of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean's largest and newest vessels, according to the company's website. And it would have to be massive given that it is home to a veritable amusement park, complete with a climbing wall, ice-skating rink and 9-hole miniature golf course. It's also home to a floating waterpark, with a FloRider surf simulator, interactive water-play zone and more pools and hot tubs than your kids will be able to keep track of. In addition, you and your kids will be able to watch Nickelodeon movies in the ship's 1,800-seat theater and participate in live game shows pitting you against them, and, of course, Nickelodeon's trademark green slime will be a part of it all. The ship will make stops at four ports, including Cozumel, Mexico; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman, and Labadee, Royal Caribbean's private island in Haiti. If you want to avoid the hassles associated with the new rules you could consider shipping your bags to your vacation destination. Whether you go with the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, UPS, DHL or specialty companies such as Luggage Free or Luggage Forward you might have a much smoother flight not having to worry about whether your clothes will be there when you land. The convenience and peace of mind that comes with having your items picked up at your home and delivered to your destination may be worth the extra money.
