More To Do in D.C.by Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 13 Nov 2007 08:08 PM You've seen just about every historic attraction in Washington, D.C. and now it's time to make some history of your own. (Shopholics, I'm talking to you.) Along with being home to some of the most awe-inspiring spots in the world, D.C. is also a shopper's paradise with hundreds of unique stores that will take your breath away. Fleet Feet The landmark store has quite a reputation and even if you don't purchase a pair of new stomps it's still a cool D.C. spot to see and be seen. Mayor Adrian Fenty's family runs the shop and word on the street has it that the city leader worked there himself when he was growing up. The store is so popular some customers travel thousands of miles to get fitted for just the right running shoe under its roof. Fleet Feet's knowledgeable staff quizzes you on more than just your shoe size, they inquire about your running style and any previous foot injuries. Then, they suggest a few shoe models and let you test them outside. Georgetown The Shops at Georgetown Park is a Mecca for big spenders. Seriously, you'll want to set aside an entire day to cover it from end to end. Along with traditional retailers such as Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, BCBG and H&M, the Shops house trendy local boutiques including Hu's Shoes (where you can walk away in one-of-a-kind stilettos) and Fornash Designs (where you can custom-design your own purse by choosing fabric and handles). Got kids? Stop into Georgetown's Piccolo Piggies for a huge selection of stylish clothing and kid-friendly accessories. Barney's Co-Op If you want hip and trendy then look no further than Barney's Co-Op. Lucky D.C.-area shoppers have their choice of two locations--one in Chevy Chase, Maryland and the other in Georgetown. Both sites sell chic designer labels like Philip Lim, Ella Moss and Marc Jacobs.
