If you happen to live in the region the following travel deals are great opportunities for you to take an affordable weekend getaway. If you live elsewhere in the nation, but simply can't pass up the chance to take in the fall colors in New York or Massachusetts the following deals will help keep your total travel bill down. Take a look: NEW YORK Does it get any better than this? Lake George, New York on a crisp autumn day. The leaves are popping and the air is sweet with the smell of caramel apples. Sound enticing? Then take advantage of the "Foliage at the Lake Sunday Getaways" package at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, New York. It includes accommodations at either The Lodges or the Historic Hotel, snacks in the evenings, and breakfast daily for $220. If you have $280 more to spend per couple, the "Land, Air, and Lake" package provides two nights lodging and your choice of a lunch cruise on the Morgan as it sails Lake George or a two-hour sightseeing train ride. For $450 more per couple, you can ride a hot-air balloon. The offer expires on October 14th. MASSACHUSETTS If you are looking for a great spot to view the fall foliage, but don't have a ton of money to burn, consider heading to North Adams and Stockbridge. Right now the Red Lion Inn and the Porches Inn have teamed up to offer the "Berkshires Top to Bottom" package, which includes accommodations and daily breakfast. The Porches Inn in North Adams is a short distance from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, and the cozy 108-room Red Lion in Stockbridge is located near the Norman Rockwell Museum. Rates start at $325 per room beginning October 22nd. NORTH CAROLINA Fall foliage fanatics will love the "Leaf Looker" package being offered at the Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, North Carolina. Located in the Smoky Mountains, the Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The package includes accommodations for two nights at the Inn or the Lodge, champagne on arrival, breakfast daily, access to spa facilities, a picnic lunch for two and a picnic blanket and a disposable camera. The deal runs from October 1st through November 15th.
