More Exotic Budget Hotelsby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 30 Mar 2008 10:10 PM In my previous blog I asked how much is too much to spend on a hotel room. Depending on where you are staying I would guess most travelers would be willing to drop about $150 for a decent room in a safe location. Which is why you might be surprised to learn that some of the world's most exotic vacation spots offer incredible savings on hotel rooms. Take a look at the following cost saving accommodations. They might just have you considering a spring fling to the tropics. INDONESIA For just $150 per room per night you can enjoy a stay (plus free daily breakfast) at Desa Seni, or "art village," in Bali. The resort opened in 2006 and is comprised of 10 guesthouses that feature air-conditioning and antique teak furniture. Fruit baskets are delivered daily and guests have access to free yoga classes, a saltwater pool, and two beaches are within walking distance of the property. NEW ZEALAND Amitee's on Ponsonby is a modest yet clean seven-room inn located in Auckland's Ponsonby neighborhood. For just $128 per room per night guests receive a spacious room, free breakfast and access to a business center. PERU Hostal Casa de Campo consists of chalet-like cottages, connected by terraces, stone steps, and gardens, on the slopes of San Blas with spectacular views over the rest of Cuzco. For a jaw-dropping $55 per night you can stay in a room with a fireplace or kitchenette and receive free breakfast. PORTUGAL For just $82 per room you can spend the night at Casa da Moura and enjoy a free breakfast to boot. The rooms are decorated with tiles, fabrics, and carved wooden furniture imported from Morocco. The property also features a pool and a rooftop terrace that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Monte do Papa-Léguas is an eight-room inn located in Southern Portugal that was once a local farmhouse and barn. For just $102 per room per night you can stay in the rustic lodging and receive a free breakfast. BMX bikes and trail maps are included in the room rate as incentive for guests to explore the surrounding Costa Vicentina nature reserve.
