Have Fun at the Airport

It is possible. Of course, “fun” is a relative term. Whether your time at the airport is self-imposed or you got slammed by an airline like me (Bitter? Maybe.), then you might find the following information quite helpful. Believe it or not there are airports that are helping passengers pass the time with fun events, amenities and activities, such as: LAX Foodies have one more reason to welcome a layover at Los Angeles International Airport. Passenger-Friendly Airports

Take it from someone who recently spent 13 hours straight at Chicago’s (in)famous O’Hare thanks to American Airlines’ lack of well engineered planes and even worse professional conduct, there’s only so much one can do in an airport before going stir crazy. Did I mention I was trapped at O’Hare with a tired, hungry and antsy kindergartner? Yeah. Thankfully, some U.S. airports are trying to become a bit more passenger-friendly. Granted, no one should be forced to sit in an airport for 13 hours straight, but if you ever find yourself in a wretched situation similar to mine, then aim … Continue reading

Ways To Have Fun At the Airport

The words “fun” and “airport” are rarely featured in the same sentence, especially since 9/11, and even more so since that dimwit allegedly tried to take down Northwest Airlines flight 253 on Christmas Day by stashing liquid explosives in his underwear. However, savvy travelers know that certain airports feature noteworthy boredom busters. If you are planning on flying through any of the following airports this holiday weekend, consider what they have to offer: Las Vegas: Who says you have to bid Lady Luck adieu when you leave your hotel on the Strip? Having Fun in the Airport

It’s not everyday that you see the words “fun” and “airport” in the same sentence, let alone as the title of an article. But, alas, 2009 is bringing with it some unique pairings. I should know. I just spent three unplanned hours in one of the world’s busiest airports and I am not the least bit bitter about it. Okay, maybe that’s not 100 percent true, but I consider my family very lucky as our plane did manage to depart on the same day we were ticketed, which is more than I can say for thousands of others whose flights … Continue reading

Busy Airport Gets Major Boost

The good news: London Heathrow Airport just opened a new $8.6 billion state-of-the-art terminal with some of the most luxurious accommodations in the world. The bad news: Unless you are a higher-fare premium customer you won’t get the opportunity to indulge in the terminal’s ultra-luxe amenities. Still, airport officials say the addition of the new Terminal 5 will greatly improve the travel experience for millions of travelers who fly British Airways. (The new facility was designed specifically for the 30 million or so passengers who fly with the carrier.) For example, frequent flyers will now be pampered in the terminal’s … Continue reading

Alternative Airports

In my previous blog I mentioned that great airfare deals are available (even during the busy holiday travel season) provided you remain “flexible” with your travel plans. In addition to being flexible with your departure and return dates and times, it’s also helpful to consider flying in or out of alternate airports. For example, I live near two major airports in Wisconsin—–Milwaukee and Madison. So when I can’t get an affordable fare when I plug in one, I then check fares at the other. Some alternative airports are quite convenient; others are a stretch. For instance, I could fly out … Continue reading

Snapshot Of A New Photography Blogger

Your house is on fire! Besides your family members (pets included), what’s the one item you would try to save on the way out? My answer: My photo album. Okay, albums—as many as possible. My firefighter brother would frown upon my answer as he constantly warns people not to grab anything when fleeing a burning building, but then again photography is not his passion like it is mine. My name is Michele Cheplic and I will be joining Nicole Humphrey (who, by the way is doing an incredible job) here in the photography blog. Some of you may know me … Continue reading
