Let the Holiday Deals Beginby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 22 Oct 2009 09:41 AM I won't get too far ahead. I can't bring myself to think about Christmas yet, but Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner, and if you are looking for super savings on cruises or hotels, then now is the time to get cracking. The following are some of the best fall travel deals on the market right now: HALLOWEEN IN NORTH CAROLINA If you are looking to ditch the little candy beggars this Halloween, then consider visiting Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The picturesque city is home to the Carolina Inn, which is offering a Halloween Night With Dr. Jacocks package for just $99. The deal includes accommodations; a dinner and a presentation by Jim Hall of Haunted North Carolina; a tour of the haunted parts of the Carolina Inn, including the suite of Dr. Jacocks, a former resident who reportedly still haunts the place; and breakfast. The inn is billed as one of America's top haunted hotels and is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks. THANKSGIVING CRUISE Thanksgiving is great if you aren't the one stuck preparing the meal, cleaning up and hosting a house full of relatives. If you are looking to escape the trappings of a potentially dysfunctional family affair, then consider sailing on the high seas this November. Carnival Cruise Lines is offering an unbelievable bargain on a 7-night sailing. You will be traveling aboard the brand new Carnival Dream, and someone else will be put in charge of making your holiday turkey and all the sides while you relax on a beach in the Bahamas. Rates start at just $499, which is amazing considering the original price was more than $1,800 for an interior cabin. In addition, you will be one of the first to experience the Carnival Dream. The vessel is Carnival's largest creation and it showcases new features, such as the Seaside Theatre, a two-deck mini-golf course, and a laser light show. The Thanksgiving itinerary includes embarking from New York City on November 23, and spending two days at sea before reaching Port Canaveral, Florida. After that, the Dream will call on both Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas before making its way back to New York.
