How to Meet Your Favorite Hollywood Stars

Los Angeles is the place to be if you are starstruck fan looking to bump into your favorite celebs. Unfortunately, a summer trip to Hollywood doesn't always yield random meetings with Tinseltown hotties. Sure, there's always a chance you might cross paths with a star while shopping at The Grove or Whole Foods, but you might have better luck on Hollywood Boulevard where the wax versions of entertainment's elite are now on display.

Madame Tussauds newest wax museum just opened a location in Hollywood next to Grauman's Chinese Theatre and steps away from Oscar's Kodak Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (Michael Jackson's star sits near the museum's entrance). The $55 million palace is home to more than 110 wax replicas of entertainment's biggest names.

The shrine to Hollywood's superstars comes equipped with interactive props that you won't see at other Madame Tussauds' museums in Las Vegas, Washington, New York, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Berlin and London. In addition to being able to rub elbows with the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, you can hug them, dress like them, take pictures with them, and play with them.

The play part comes courtesy of the wax figures' accessories: The Red Sea parts beneath you in front of Charlton Heston, a shower curtain hides a cutout in a bathtub by Alfred Hitchcock, there are extra habits so you can join Whoopi Goldberg in a "Sister Act" show, a bicycle that stands next to Lance Armstrong allows you "ride" with him in the Tour de France and you can hang out with Tom Hanks who's sitting on a bus stop bench waiting for his ride.

In the museum's sports room you can pose with the wax versions of professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, hoops star Kobe Bryant and gold phenom Tiger Woods. Hawk fans can score an awesome picture by crouching on a half pipe on the ground, as the pro skateboarder appears to fly overhead.

Other prime photo ops include shaking hands with a wax version of President Obama and Shrek. The latter is the museum's largest figure weighing in at 1,000 pounds. Madame Tussauds' smallest residents are Alvin and his chipmunk brothers Theodore and Simon.

The museum is open year round and expects to see its highest attendance numbers in the winter when snowbirds descend upon sunny California.
