Hotel Woes and Pros

HOTEL WOES

I'm not sure who to feel more sorry for in this next situation--the hotel employees or the hotel guests.

If you watched the news last night you might have seen the report about 40 traveling salespeople who were given the boot from a Minnesota motel for what managers there call, "very, very rude behavior."

Apparently, the three-dozen or so salespeople (reportedly all in their 20s) who were staying at the AmericInn Lodge & Suites in Moorhead left behind more than just their unwanted behavior.

According to motel managers, complaints about the unruly guests started pouring in less than two hours after the group checked in. Reports claimed the salespeople were drinking, partying, smoking in nonsmoking rooms, and disturbing other hotel guests.

Eventually, hotel staff told the rowdy salespeople that they were being kicked out. According to reports, that's when some of the obnoxious guests got "irate" and made threatening comments to hotel housekeepers and security staff.

Hotel managers say they called police, who escorted the traveling salespeople off the property. Once the rude guests were gone hotel managers say they discovered what they left behind---a huge mess.

According to police reports, damage to the guest rooms included holes punched in the walls, missing window screens and in some rooms the toilet paper holders were ripped from the walls.

The guests will reportedly be charged for the damage, which is estimated at about $1,000. But here's the kicker to this entire ordeal: The rowdy guests who left behind the gigantic mess sold cleaning supplies for a living.

HOTEL PROS

If you have ever dreamed of starring in your own movie now's your big chance.

Thanks to the creative folks at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel located near celeb-packed Rodeo Drive, your dream of living large in Hollywood can become reality.

The hotel is offering non-celeb guests the chance to star in their own movie while staying there. For about $2,500 the hotel will arrange for professionals to film you and your family in a scripted or unscripted film. (The unscripted version features just you or you and your loved ones lounging poolside, sightseeing or posing in and around the hotel.)

Those with money to spare also have the opportunity to splurge at other Peninsula locations. For example, in Chicago the Peninsula there offers a program that takes guests shopping at the city's Merchandise Mart, home to a premier collection of designer home furnishings. Guests also receive a behind-the-scenes tour of designer showrooms, which are not open to the public.
