Hot, Hot Hotel Dealsby Michele Cheplic | More from this Blogger 10 Jul 2007 10:26 PM The Fourth of July holiday may be over, but there's still nearly eight weeks left before summer unofficially ends. So why not strike when the travel deals are hot and hit the open road for a summer trip to remember. There's nothing like finding a great rate on a hotel room to make a trip unforgettable. The following summer deals are being offered by properties situated just off the beaten path. All of them are refurbished roadside classics, which have been reborn as boutique motels and the nightly rates will have you wondering why you didn't seek them out earlier. Portland, Oregon The Jupiter Hotel in Portland, Oregon has been touted by The New York Times as "a cultural boutique hotel with the hottest pillow in town." It is a revamped 1960's motor inn east of the Willamette River. Some unique features include blackboard doors on the rooms, which give visitors a place to scrawl graffiti. Inside, the rooms are decorated with Blue Dot furniture, and in one suite, a mural of giant daisies decorates an entire wall. Summer rates start at $114 a night. The Florida Keys Casa Morada is located in verdant Islamorada. The property offers 16 stylish suites and is reminiscent of a private island hideaway. Guests describe the property as "befitting the French Riviera, with a Caribbean accent." Casa Morada features lush landscaping, a pool surrounded by a sandy "beach," and outdoor lounges at the water's edge. Regular rates start at $300/night but the summer Sail Away package gets you a garden suite for just $189/night, plus 25% off a sunset sailing. Palm Springs, California Hope Springs used to be a hip 1950s style roadside inn. Now it is considered a Palm Springs hotspot. Condé Nast Traveler says the best part about the property is the "silence, comfort and unusual beauty." The inn is also known for its brightly colored adobe walls. In addition its architectural design is unique in that ten rooms circle around a courtyard containing three warm mineral pools. Summer rates start at $195 per night.
