Know Where to Go - Although you could take a safari in several locations, I would recommend you consider places to include South Africa, the Indian, and Ocean Islands, and East, and Central Africa

Be Prepared for the Climate - Remember that these parts of the world are know for season trends. Therefore, check with your travel agent to determine the predicted weather so you can go prepared. For instance, South Africa is rainy from November through the first two weeks of April, even experiencing cyclones but then from May to October, weather is dry. The other regions of Africa have hard rains from April to June although short rainfall happens in November and December. Finally, summer rains occur from November to April in the Indian and Ocean Islands.

Budget - The price for a safari will vary in price depending on where you go, the length you stay, and the activities you experience. However, the key is to work with a good travel agent that can help you choose the right accommodations, airfare, etc according to your specific budget.

Know your Travel Style - Even people on a budget may prefer the finer things in life. You need to understand the style of travel you enjoy. For example, some people enjoy camping and sitting around a roaring fire at night while other people prefer a four-star hotel. Both are right in that it is a personal decision but if you do not like the heat, bugs, or a soft bed, then make sure you are honest with yourself in saying a tent and sleeping bag is not for you.
