Get Ready For The "Carnival of Carnage"

It's that time of year again... Madness, mayhem and horror are being unleashed at Universal Orlando Resort's Halloween Horror Nights. Billed as the largest, most intense Halloween event in the country, the annual seasonal celebration is expected to draw record crowds this year.

A warning to parents with young children the event is not for the faint of heart (or the child that experiences regular nightmares). However, if you have teens that enjoy having the Halloween stuffing scared out of them then pack your bags now.

Universal says this year Halloween Horror Nights is the most extreme, fear-filled event in its 17-year history. In addition to the traditional horror icons such as Freddy Krueger, Jason and Leatherface, you can look forward to coming face-to-face with Jack, The Clown Prince of Halloween inside his "Carnival of Carnage."

The "Carnival of Carnage" is part of Universal's extensive Halloween-themed events that run through November 3rd and features eight all-new haunted houses -three of which are created around Freddy Krueger, Jason and Leatherface. Universal Orlando is also unveiling four new shows this year (more than ever before), including a show dedicated to Jack, a tribute to the Rocky Horror Picture Show and a spooked out version of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure."

As I mentioned earlier, this event is obviously not tailored to little tikes. If you are looking for more age appropriate Halloween-themed activities for children under the age of 12 I would suggest checking with your local zoo. Most public zoos offer trick-or-treating, arts and crafts, and other kid-friendly events for younger children.

We went to one of these a few years back. Or I should say we tried to. I got so scared I was crying and we had to leave. But we first had to wait 2 hours holed up in a cafeteria because I was having a major fright attack and couldn't even walk on the streets.

The costumes are amazing and the scare zones...well, if you go when there's a crowd it's better. We got there early and basically were the only ones in the park going through the scare zones so those actors had the perfect victim all to themselves. I was truly terrified and could not get it in my head it was only pretend. I could never be an actress on a horror set. I'd lose my mind.

But I recommend to anyone who loves haunted houses that this THE premier destination. Universal does a AWESOME job.

Sounds horrible Courtney. I'm such a wimp when it comes to scare zones--I stick with the ZOO BOOs... I'd rather collect candy than have it scared out of me. Thanks for the comment!
