Football Travel Deals

I happen to live amongst the most dedicated football fans in the world. Green Bay, Wisconsin--home to the legendary Green Bay Packers, historic Lambeau Field, and hundreds of thousand of die-hard cheeseheads who claim that they bleed green and gold. And just to our south sits another famous football stadium--Camp Randall, where I used to spend practically every fall Saturday during my college years cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers.

People in Wisconsin take football very seriously. But, I assume so do all the folks that travel here and to other parts of the nation to root on their respective home teams. I give credit to those fans who attend every away game. If you are one of them, your team is lucky to have you.

And to reward your dedication several hotels located near popular football stadiums are offering discounts to help you offset your travel expenses.

BOSTON

The Boston Park Plaza & Towers is offering an ACC Football Package. For $169 you get a one-night stay in a single or double room at this gigantic 950-room hotel that's listed among the Historic Hotels of America. The property is located in the heart of downtown Boston so you are within walking distance of a myriad of popular tourist attractions. The catch: the deal is only good during the weekend Boston College takes on the University of Miami, November 23rd and 24th.

NEW YORK

The Westin New York at Times Square is running a Football Fanatic deal, which includes a Sunday overnight stay, plus a bucket of beer for $259. Parking is not included in the price. The Sunday special is effective now through February 2008.

NEW ORLEANS

Five participating Marriott-brand hotels in New Orleans: New Orleans Marriott, JW Marriott New Orleans, Renaissance Arts Hotel, Renaissance Pere Marquette, and New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center are offering a Big Easy SaintsSational package. For $179 per night you get lodging, three-bottles of New Orleans-brewed Abita Amber Beer, three bottles of spring water, a cooler, and breakfast for two. The offer is good Sundays through Dec. 24, 2007.

SAN DIEGO

The Sofia Hotel in San Diego is running a post-season travel special called the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl package. It includes two nights lodging in a queen room and two field-level tickets to the NCAA College Bowl game for $350. The hotel is located near the Gaslamp Quarter and is listed as one of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America. The offer is only good on December 26th and 27th.
