There is potential that your child is especially allergic right now because he or she lives in a place that is filled with Fall allergens. Has the past few weeks been really difficult for your child? If you are looking to soak up the sun, sand and surf without going into debt, consider … Continue reading

Fall Special Offers

With a new season comes a new batch of special offers at the Disney parks. Disney World is surprisingly light on new deals this quarter, so let’s take a look at it first. The main deal being pushed by Disney World right now is a free dining plan. Guests who purchase a non-discounted Magic Your Way room and ticket package at certain Disney World hotels get either a free dining plan or a free quick-service dining plan. The difference depends on the hotel; the bigger dining plan comes with the nicer (moderate, deluxe, or deluxe villa) hotels and the quick-service … Continue reading

Multi-Generational Fall Getaways

Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to kiss the sun, sand and surf goodbye until spring. Fall is one of the best times of the year to score travel deals on beach getaways. In fact, some of the price reductions are so generous you can invite grandma and grandpa along for the ride. The change in temperature often means a dip in prices for multi-generational vacation packages to sunny locations, such as the Caribbean, Florida, Hawaii and the Carolinas. Since autumn is considered “off-season” at the aforementioned beach destinations, not only will you and your entire … Continue reading

Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children

Disney has a history of helping in hospitals Going to the hospital can be a scary time for anyone, but especially for children. If it’s the child being taken for a hospital visit, and not just accompanying others to visit someone else, the experience becomes even more frightening. Kids can sense how upset the parents must be at the situation, which might only double their own fears. Anything that might help lessen those fears and distract children from their upsetting time at a hospital, then, is fantastic. Kudos to Walt Disney Imagineering and Florida Hospital for Children for their recent … Continue reading

Fall in Florida

Thanks to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, most of us have seen a substantial increase in TV commercials touting the finer points of Florida travel. Even my 6-year-old can tell you that Florida’s beaches are clean and open to the public… and we live in Wisconsin. Given all that has transpired in the last few months, I figured I would give Florida some coverage in this blog. Not Orlando. After all, the home to the world’s most famous mouse helps the state top travel lists as one of the most visited places in the United States. Rather, I plan to … Continue reading

TV Falls on Toddler

Before our home could be licensed as a foster home, we had to do a great deal of baby proofing. We would have done it all anyway, as we wanted to provide a safe environment for all children in our care. All furniture that is tall and can tip has been anchored to the wall. A toddler very close to me met a tragic end because he climbed up an unanchored dresser to get to the TV on top. He would have been two not long after the accident. We have an enormous TV in our living room. There’s no … Continue reading
