Have you made your travel plans to view the fall foliage yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Peak leaf-peeping season is just a few short weeks away and hotels around the country are offering some spectacular savings.

Here are a few of the best fall deals from coast to coast:

CALIFORNIA

If you have never been to Mammoth, California (nestled amidst the Sierra Nevada range) now is the time to visit. Right now the Mammoth Mountain Inn is offering a "Fall Colors" discount on its rooms. For example, you can stay in a one-bedroom for just $139 a night from now until November 5th. The Inn's location makes it a great base for hiking or strolling through nearby parks. For an extra $10 you can purchase a daily bike pass or for $18 take a gondola ride to the free Sierra Interpretive Center situated at the top of the mountain.

OREGON

This next deal may be considered a splurge, especially if you are really watching your family's budget. But, if you have the means then it is well worth the money. The luxurious Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River is currently offering a "Fall into the Gorge" package with accommodations in a garden-or river-view room, daily breakfast and dinner for two, a $50 credit for the gift shop, a $195 spa credit, a bottle of local wine, and a fruit and cheese plate upon arrival. Rates start at $630 per room per night. It's a great deal considering the room alone typically costs $200. The deal lasts through November.

MICHIGAN

Mackinac Island. If I could choose one place in the Midwest to view the fall foliage it would be Mackinac Island. The island offers the most incredibly breathtaking views of autumn's rich colors. I wish I could live there for the entire season. Unfortunately, I can't but, there is a way to get a great deal on a hotel room there during the month of October. The Island House, which has a wraparound porch, a pool, and restaurant is offering a "Fall Classic" package with a two-night stay, buffet breakfast daily, and nightly dinner nightly in the 1852 Grill Room. There is also a Friday welcome reception on the veranda with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. You also get a half a pound of Ryba's Fudge, an evening hayride, round-trip ferry tickets, and a commemorative poster for $496.

Jonesville. The Munro House Bed & Breakfast and Spa is offering a "Southern Michigan Fall Colors" package. It includes a two-night stay in a room with a fireplace during early October, plus daily breakfast and dinner for $429.

VERMONT

The historic Middlebury Inn is currently offering a "Fall Back In Time" package loaded with money saving deals. For $350 per room per night you get luxury accommodations; breakfast daily; a three-course dinner for two at the inn's Morgan restaurant; a picnic lunch of wraps, chips, fruit, dessert, and drinks; passes to the Henry Sheldon Museum valued at $10; passes for the University of Vermont's Morgan Horse Farm; a self-guided tour of the area's picturesque covered bridges; a "hunt for history" scavenger hunt with prizes; and afternoon tea for two. The deal runs through November 4th.
