Early Season Ski Deals

In my previous blog I told you how I nearly dropped my toast when my daughter started shrieking about the snow that was falling outside our living room window this morning. For die-hard skiers I'm sure the sight brought tears to their eyes. (It did for me too, but not for the same reason.)

As I mentioned earlier many ski resorts throughout the United States are already up and running for the season. And to entice skiers who are anxious to make the first tracks on the mountains, many resorts are offering early-season ski packages.

Take a look at a few more:

UTAH

Alta opened yesterday thanks to some help from high-tech snowmaking. The resort has three lifts and top-to-bottom skiing available, and rather than offer early-season discounts, the resort has gone to a "reloadable" RFID system: lift tickets are $59 the first day and $54 thereafter. However, if you want to spend the night you could take advantage of early-season packages at Rustler Lodge. The hotel is offering 20% off accommodations through November 30th. There are savings to be had at Park City as well. Guests there have access to four runs and lift tickets are $45. For those of you hitting the slopes as a family there is a package deal featuring four nights lodging and three days of lift tickets for two adults and two children, starting at $399 per adult. By the way, Solitude, Snowbird and The Canyons will all be up and running by tomorrow.

NEW ENGLAND

In Vermont, guests at Mt. Snow experienced the resort's earliest opening in 10 years when it started welcoming skiers on November 10th. Currently, you can ski or snowboard top-to-bottom on a handful of runs on the resort's main face. Lift tickets are $49; lift and lodging packages start at $70 per person/per night. Meanwhile, Killington, Okemo and Waterville Valley in New Hampshire are also up and running. Killington has more than a dozen runs available. And in Maine, Sunday River opened last week. Lift tickets there are only $35 and the Ski & Stay packages start at just $69 per person/per night.
