by Michele Cheplic

10 Sep 2009 09:12 PM

Now that she's seen her first "Cheetos tree" of the season, my daughter is itching to find more. It won't be long before all the trees in our area are painted with fluorescent orange, crimson red and mustard yellow.

Super Safari Deal

by Michele Cheplic

My preschooler's dream trip includes jetting off to the heart of Kenya and getting up close and personal with animals most of us would rather see in books than in person. She would like nothing more to run wild with baboons, lions, lemurs, elephants, rhinos, tigers, and hyenas.

What weighs 448 tons; climbs 60 feet in the air and stretches 220 yards above what is considered one of the most beautiful places on earth? Kew Gardens' calls it their new XStrata Treetop Walkway.

When was the last time it poured during your family's trip to the beach? Do you remember the ski vacation that didn't yield any appreciable snow? What about the trip to the kite festival on a day with no wind?

My almost 3-year-old daughter loves fish. I've taken her to various world-class aquariums, but we always leave with her asking for more. One person recently recommended I take her snorkeling.

13 Apr 2007 06:30 PM

In previous blogs I've written about destinations located throughout the world that have been listed as ideal spots to kayak (most of them lakes and rivers). However, I have only briefly touched on the subject of ocean kayaking.

Rock Climbing At Red Rock Canyon

by Michele Cheplic

03 Apr 2007 02:20 PM

In a previous blog I tried my best to sway you from getting sunburned while walking from casino to casino (or buffet to buffet) during your trip to Las Vegas. Rather, if you are going to cause damage to your skin I suggested you do so at Red Rock Canyon---a.k.a. a rock climber's mecca.

Visiting Hells Canyon

by Michele Cheplic

With a name like Hells Canyon it's hard to believe anything good can come from a trip there. But, don't let the name fool you. If you are narrowing down your choices for a family-friendly spring break travel destination don't rule out Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.
