Where will you be when the Fourth of July fireworks light up the night sky? For some families the long Independence Day holiday weekend is the perfect time to hit the road for a much needed summer getaway. And while patriotic travelers don't mind busting out the red, white, and blue for the Fourth most would like to limit the amount of green they dole out on their vacations.

Just in time for the upcoming holiday weekend the following lodgings across our proud nation are offering Fourth of July travel deals to lure you to their turf to celebrate our country's birthday:

MICHIGAN

The exquisite Grand Hotel---the crown jewel of Mackinac Island, Michigan---is celebrating the Fourth of July in style. The island, which does not allow cars (instead you take a ferry to the island, then a horse-drawn carriage to the hotel) is helping you experience an old-fashion Independence Day from a rocking chair on the hotel's famous record breaking 660-foot front porch (considered the world's longest). The resort's "Old Fashioned Mackinac Fourth of July Celebration" package includes three nights' accommodation, daily breakfast and dinner, complimentary afternoon and evening children's programs, a BBQ luncheon, ice cream social, fireworks, children's carnival and even gratuities. The virtually all-inclusive rate is priced at $1875 for three nights, which works out to $625 a night for a family of up to five. The hotel is also allowing guests to extend their stay with days at either end for an extra $209 per family per night. The discount reflects a substantial savings off the resort's regular rate.

CALIFORNIA

You haven't lived until you've seen dozens of fireworks exploding over the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains. The luxurious Resort at Squaw Creek is offering an incredible Fourth of July travel package, which caters to families who love spending time in the great outdoors. The resort is home to the Mountain Buddies children's program, which offers a wide array of activities for young guests, from biking, swimming, and canyon nature hikes to tie dying, jewelry making and spin art. During the holiday weekend rooms are going for just $259 per night.

WASHINGTON

Seattle residents will tell you that there is no place else in the Emerald City that you want to watch the monster Fourth of July fireworks display than at Downtown Park, in the Bellevue neighborhood. The colorful display is the centerpiece of the Family Fourth celebration at Downtown Park near Lake Union. To help you get up close to all the action the Courtyard Seattle Bellevue/Downtown is offering a holiday value package, which includes accommodations, patriotic cupcakes delivered to your room, a goodie bag of snacks, a flashlight to take to the park, breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, free parking and late check-out for just $159 per night.

For the last couple of years my wife and I have been vacationing with our kids for the July 4th week. We have been going to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina every year and absolutly love it. Ocean Isle is a beautiful beach town located in the southern tip of NC and is only a short drive from the famous attractions of Myrtle Beach. What has attracted us to the area has been the wonderful scenery, its short distance to major destinations like Wilmington NC and Myrtle Beach, and mostly the amazing deals on vacation beach home rentals you can find. Every year when we search for a beach home to rent, we have found the best deals through a local company Sloane Vacations. We have been constantly impressed by how friendly and helpful their staff is. If you are every looking to vacation to the beaches of North Carolina, I highly recommend you check Ocean Isle Beach out.
