“Dancing’s” Samantha Harris Under Fire

Did you watch “Dancing with the Stars” last night? While the contestants and the audience were up in arms about the brouhaha regarding illegal lifts, viewers at home were fired up about another portion of the program. Namely co-host Samantha Harris. Harris returned to the show last night for the first time since giving birth to her first child three weeks ago. The decision obviously didn’t sit well with millions of fans who took their ire to dozens of Internet chat rooms and message boards. MAN! I am glad I’m not Harris. That woman is being raked over the coals … Continue reading

Emmy Mania—Will You Be Watching?

In just a few hours hundreds of Hollywood’s elite will be strutting down the red carpet hoping they will end their evening clutching television’s highest honor—-the Emmy Award. Only this year, the red carpet is being tinged with a hint of “green.” As in eco-green. Yes, the entertainment industry is contributing to the global cause by launching a “Green with Emmy” campaign. (Clever.) Not only will the show’s Shrine Auditorium location be powered by renewable energy for the month of September (a combination of solar energy, wind energy and hydropower), but stars will also be gathering under a solar panel … Continue reading

Antz (1998)

Gather every star in Hollywood and put their voices together in one film, and you’ve got “Antz.” Woody Allen stars as Z, a neurotic and insecure ant who’s in therapy, trying to understand his place in the colony. He feels uncomfortable with the lack of individuality he’s been taught his entire life, and wonders if there isn’t more out there. While drinking aphid beer at the bar one night, an old-timer tells him of a wonderful place called “Insectopia,” where the bugs don’t have a boss and there’s food enough for everyone. A dream is planted in Z’s heart. Meanwhile, … Continue reading

Juicy Hollywood Tidbits – June 8, 2007

“Sex and the City” Girls to Work Together Again Woohoo! It looks like one of my favorite shows, HBO’s “Sex and the City” have a followup movie made after all. “Sex and the City” ended its very successful six-year run on HBO in 2004, but fans clamored for more. They weren’t ready to let go of the girls – writer and fashion plate Carrie, hopeless romantic Charlotte, mom and lawyer Miranda, and sexy PR siren Samantha – whom many fans had come to consider their own girlfriends. Right after the series ended, there were talks of a movie, but reports … Continue reading

Random Acts of Stardom

What is it with celebrities and cupcakes? First Katie Holmes was seen doling the confections out to castmates and crew members on the set of her new movie and now a popular TV doctor is providing them to a fellow actress as a form of medicine. According to USA Today, when “The Office” star Jenna Fischer injured her back at party hosted by NBC a couple of weeks ago, fellow actor Zach Braff (who plays Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian on NBC’s hit comedy “Scrubs”) sent her a big tray of cupcakes to lift her spirits. “In those first few days, … Continue reading

Movie Ticket or Lottery Ticket?

Last night I was cleaning out my purse and came across a couple of movie passes. The little pieces of paper have been sitting in my wallet for months—ever since my young daughter fell asleep during “Charlotte’s Web.” She was so looking forward to seeing the film when it first opened back in December 2006. A few days before Christmas I broke down and bought tickets for us to see the show—-she ended up falling asleep on my lap about five minutes after the theater lights dimmed. (Note: It was the early showing, but I figured all the excitement leading … Continue reading

Has American Idol Gone Too Far?

I must admit that I only became hooked on American Idol last year. And then that was only because I had someone ask me to blog about it. I had never understood the fascination with the show. I didn’t even start watching last year until they were almost finished with Hollywood. But, I must admit, once I started watching, I was caught up in it. By the end of the season, I was calling in constantly, voting for Taylor. I could not wait until this season started. Apparently, I was not the only one. There were 37.3 million other people … Continue reading

Award Show Secrets

Do you ever watch the award shows – the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards, etc. – and wonder how the women can look so effortlessly beautiful? They usually (note I said USUALLY) have spectacular gowns, flawless hair and makeup, and beautifully jeweled shoes. CNN.com revealed that there are a few secrets used to help them look “naturally” beautiful. What kind of secrets to the stars possess that we mere mortals do not have access to? You probably know that many are offered their pick of designer gowns well in advance of the shows. After they pick the gown, most have … Continue reading
